India and its relation with Buddhism

Sarnath is a Buddhist pilgrim spot located near Varanasi. The city is famous for being the first place where Lord Buddha preached after attaining his enlightenment. King Ashoka, who was an ardent devotee of Lord Buddha and followed the preaching's of Buddhism constructed lot of Stupas and other structures which were based on the teachings of Buddhism. It was built by King Ashoka in the year 500CE. For more than 1500 years , Sarnath Stupa served as a learning center for Buddhism and people from all across the world visit here to get a glimpse of it.  Celestial Sphere Last afternoon, the sky was somewhere between pale blue and purple, looking like it is going to rain anytime soon. I think the sky is an integral part of nature and it seems that is a masterpiece created by the Almighty.  While the sky changes its colors, it seems like it is trying to deliver us some news and whenever the sky turns pale it feels like it is grumpy due to some reason and now it is going to cry. I remember what Haruki Murakami once quoted ," The sky grew darker and painted blue on blue, one stroke at a time, into deeper and deeper shades of light."

Hullabaloo in the Fish Market.

  A day in the fish market. Kolkata is a place where fish and other sea food represents a huge chunk of the culture and to get the true essence of Kolkata and its people , it is mandatory to visit the local fish market once in a while to the culinary vibe of Bengal. The delicacies made by fish and other sea food are a staple in every Bengali household. Fish markets gets opened for people at a very early hour and so people flock in huge numbers to get them. The air in these markets smell of seafood with huge crowd and commotion of people. Fishes ranging from Hilsa, Salmon, Mourala, Bata , Puti, Papda all are available and sometimes even seafood species like catfish, prawns, crabs, lobster,carp.

  CASTING AWAY India is a country that has immense faith and belief in RELIGION, GODS and RITUALS and so the country is blessed with innumerable ghats and holy rivers which connects faith and also land. The above picture is of Damodar River which flows across the Indian states of Jharkhand and West Bengal, its source being the Chota Nagpur Plateau. The river is rich in mineral resources and is home to large scale industrial activities. People and devotees have a bath in the holy water as they believe having a bath will wash away their sins. The river has an attached dam to with known as Barrage Dam which helps in generating electricity to the cities like Durgapur and Panagarh.

  Siberian Birds at Triveni Sangam  Triveni Ghat is one such ghat where three rivers namely Hiran, Kapil and Saraswati meet with Arabian Sea. The point of confluence is considered to be holy and sacred for Hindu culture. According to the Hindu mythology, Triveni Ghat is the place visited by Krishna after being hit by an error and is considered to be the cremation ground of Lord Krishna. It is believed that a bath in the holy river can wash off all the holy sins and the person can attain Moksha . It is one of the favorite tourist spot and is located near Somnath Beach. Migratory birds hover over the city during the months of November and December and the tourist who come here for a boat ride usually feeds them. With arrival of winter , Siberian birds travel across several kilometers. Siberian birds are one more reason why visitors are attracted to this place.
